  • Duration: Typically 60-120 minutes. We recommend 90 minutes for most teams.

  • Location: A venue of your choice or one of our recommended venues which are bars with private rooms (City, Newtown and North Sydney locations).

  • Timings: Any time is okay. Most clients prefer afternoons.

  • Experience: We cater to absolute beginners and this workshop is great for both shy teams as well as groups full of extroverts.

One of the advantages of booking your improv workshop with us is that we will tailor the improvisation activities and games specifically to your team’s interests and experience level. Whether your team is in the forming, storming or norming phase, we have games and exercises that will help you. And if you’re just looking for fun, then we have a bespoke workshop for this as well! What’s in the workshop?

The improvisation workshop will help your team to increase their ability to work together.

Each workshop involves a series of games and activities.

These activities are completed in small groups, and rely on teamwork.

Throughout the session, your team will be split into smaller groups, which constantly change throughout the class.

This means that everyone is participating the entire time, and they will be grouped or paired with almost everyone in the team throughout the workshop.

We have about 8-12 core activities, and swap these out with other games and exercises depending on your team’s particular requirements of interests.

Each exercise is underpinned by public speaking, storytelling and improvisation skills. The aim is for each team member will leave the session with greater confidence in their ability to speak in public settings, bond with others and think quickly on their feet.

What if my team is nervous?

Your team will benefit from improv theatre techniques and other improvisation activities. They are very fun and easy to learn. We cater to beginners.

This is one of the most common questions that we get asked.

It’s normal and understandable to be nervous by something new.

Our classes are designed specifically to remove nerves. We do this by introducing each concept slowly, maximising the fun, and by ensuring all activities are group games - meaning no one is put on the spot.

We are specialists for teams in IT, science, accounting and HR - areas within organisations that are stereotypically thought of as having fewer Type-A or extraverted individuals.

We find that the biggest growth is within these teams. Within 10 minutes of the improv workshop, everyone is having the best time and they’ve completely forgotten about their nerves.

Our facilitators take great care in helping participants to only contribute as much as they themselves feel comfortable with. No one is pushed to be extroverted or compelled to do any improvisation that they would find embarrassing.

We have a lot of repeat clients - which demonstrates the impact and inclusivity of these sessions for a wide range of teams.

FAQs

  • A minimum of four and there is no maximum. For large events, we have multiple facilitators.

  • The activities and games have been carefully created to bring out the best in your team. Contact us today and we can provide you with more information and even videos of some of the games.

  • Everything! And direct them to our website if they have any questions. Some managers prefer to make it a surprise event. That works too.

  • Please them that the games don’t involve anything embarrassing like being put on the spot or barking like a dog. Most people know of improvised theatre - and this isn’t exactly that. Our sessions use some improv ideas and blend them with comedy, public speaking, self development and a whole lot of other concepts.

    We aren’t an improv school with a vested interest in convincing you about the impact of improv. To us, it is simply the medium we use to help improve your team - whether that is through fun, the development of teamwork, or by building public speaking and communication skills.
